Appreciation post: finally chose the long box over the short stack after 3 weeks of waffling

I kept going back and forth between storing my new run of X-Men in a proper long box or just piling them on my nightstand like I do with everything else. The short stack was easier to grab and flip through, but after 12 issues started bending the corners on the bottom ones, I caved and bought a standard long box for $8 at my local shop in Philly. Honestly, the rigidity is a game changer, it sits in my closet without taking up crazy space and the dividers let me organize by arc instead of by release date. The trade-off is that I can't casually flip through them while half awake, but I got a small reading stand for $4 that solves that. Anybody else have a storage setup that forced them to rethink how they actually read their pulls? I'm curious if anyone does the magazine file thing for floppies or if I'm just overthinking this.

See, I went the opposite way after doing the long box for a year. Yeah, it keeps things flat and tidy, but I found myself reading way less. Digging through a box in the closet just added a step I didn't want. My short stack on the nightstand, even with a few bent corners, meant I'd grab an issue during breakfast or before bed without thinking. The bends actually stopped bothering me after a while, they just look lived in. Maybe I'm lazy, but the barrier to reading matters more to me than perfect spines. Different strokes, I guess.
