Overheard a group of freshmen complaining about gen eds in the library last Thursday and it hit me that I actually miss my philosophy 101 class.
They were all grumbling about having to read Plato, but that class literally taught me how to break down arguments which has saved me in three political science papers this semester, has anyone else found a gen ed that unexpectedly helped them later?

Three weeks into my first sociology paper I realized my intro to psych gen ed had actually drilled in how to spot sampling bias, which saved me from citing a garbage study. That class seemed like a waste until I caught my history TA using a flawed source from the 90s and called it out during office hours. It is wild how those basic courses sneak up and help you later, right?
