Cut my textbook bill in half with a simple library trick

I was dropping $200 on a chem book at the campus store last fall until the librarian showed me they keep previous editions on reserve for free. Has anyone else found the old editions are basically the same except for the page numbers?

Save even more by checking eBay for the older edition listed as "like new
