I always figured the Aeropress was for campers and people who didn't want to learn real brewing. Every photo I saw made it look like a giant plastic syringe, so I stuck with my pour over routine and eyeballed the whole thing. Then last month I stayed at my brother's place in Kansas City and he made me a cup with one, no scale, no gooseneck, just a kettle and a timer on his phone. The cup was sweeter and cleaner than what I get at home, and the whole thing took him under 2 minutes start to finish. So I bought one for $35, started weighing my coffee for the first time, and I've used it every morning since. Now I'm second guessing whether my grinder was ever the problem in the first place. Anyone else get humbled by a cheap brewer they wrote off on looks alone?
