The 4 AM pour over that took 47 minutes and almost broke me
Last Tuesday I was running late for a load out of Flagstaff and tried to rush my usual V60 with a cheap hand grinder, ended up with a muddy slurry that tasted like burnt rubber, and it got me thinking, has anyone else had a morning brew disaster that made you seriously question your whole routine?
47 minutes for one cup of coffee? That's not a pour over, that's a whole damn ritual. And you still ended up with burnt rubber after all that time and effort, that's brutal. I would have dumped that slurry down the sink and just chewed the beans raw at that point. The cheap hand grinder is the real villain here though, those things can turn a simple morning into a full on workout for no reason. Have you checked if your grinder is actually producing consistent grounds or just smashing them into dust? That alone could be the thing that's making every brew taste like regret.
