Hot take: I dropped $150 on a 'perfect' pour-over kettle that just collects dust.
On one side, it's a beautifully made tool that should, in theory, make better coffee. On the other, my old $30 gooseneck works just as well and I reach for it every morning. Has anyone else bought a fancy upgrade that didn't change a thing?

That's the worst feeling, watching an expensive gadget just sit there. My fancy burr grinder ended up the same way because the cheap one gets the job done fast. Sometimes the simple tool just fits your routine better.

Spot this all the time with kitchen gear and tech. We buy the fancy upgrade for that "perfect" result, but then the basic version is just sitting right there, ready to go with no fuss. It's like we're sold on the idea of a better experience, but our actual lives need speed and ease more than anything. The fancy thing becomes a chore, a symbol of guilt instead of a helpful tool. Real value isn't the price tag, it's what actually gets used every day.
