My code looked like a mess until a friend said something blunt

I was showing a friend my first Python script, about 50 lines for a simple calculator. He just stared and said, 'Dude, I can't read any of this. It's all one big block.' He was right. I had zero comments and no spaces between functions. Now I force myself to add a quick note after each chunk and hit enter twice before a new part. It's slower, but way easier to fix later. How do you guys remember to keep things neat when you're just trying to make it work?

Your "one big block" phase is a rite of passage we all try to forget.

Add comments as you go, not after, @the_sarah.
