Question about setting tools offline vs touching off at the machine
Last Tuesday our shop outside Tulsa had a mix-up where two guys running the same job got parts off by about .004 because one touched off every tool and the other used the preset numbers off the sheet. Now half the crew swears by a tool setter for everything while the other half says touching off at the machine catches real problems the setter misses. I get both sides but it turned into a whole argument at the morning huddle. Where do you all land on this, and does the part tolerance change your answer?
