Old control board went belly up on me last Tuesday
I was running a Haas VF-2 from 2003 and the main control board just gave out mid-cycle around 2pm. Lost a whole batch of parts I was running for a local shop near Portland. Ended up having to call in a repair guy who charged me $450 just to diagnose it as a dead capacitor bank. Anyone else dealing with older machines where parts are getting harder to find?

$450 for a diagnosis? Sounds like you got off cheap honestly. Those old Haas boards are basically antiques at this point, there's a reason the newer machines don't run on that junk. Maybe if you'd upgraded to something from this decade instead of clinging to 2003 tech you wouldn't be losing batches of parts and crying about it on a forum. Haas has been clear for years they're not supporting that era of hardware, you're just mad because you couldn't be bothered to plan ahead.

Actually, Haas was still selling that control software through 2015.
