Tired of hexagonal brushes being pushed on every new sweep
Been doing this 14 years in Pittsburgh and I keep seeing new guys ditch their standard steel brush for those hexagonal ones because some YouTube guy said they clean better. Tried one on a heavy creosote job last Tuesday and it just polished the flue instead of cutting it. Steel bristles dig in, hex ones skip over the crust. I checked with three older sweeps at the last state meetup and all of them said the same thing. Anyone else find hex brushes only work on light soot and fail on real buildup?
