I finally stopped fighting creosote with a $6 shop vac trick

After 6 years of scrubbing flues with brushes and chasing dust everywhere, I tried hooking a cheap shop vac to the bottom cleanout and brushing from the top down. Total game changer, all the crud dropped straight into the vac instead of coating my whole basement. I did it on a job in Akron last Tuesday and saved almost an hour on a single chimney. Anyone else got a weird setup for keeping the mess contained during a sweep?

Maybe the real win is using a leaf blower on the flue top after you're done brushing, it pushes all the leftover junk out before you pull the vac away. That way you're not findin random soot piles in your truck for a week.
