Got called out by a 30 year sweep for how I check a flue, changed my whole routine
Two months ago a sweep with 30 years in the trade watched me run a job in Buffalo and told me flat out I was checking draft wrong, that my smoke pencil test wasn't telling me half of what a simple match would. I switched to a match and started watching how the flame bends before I even touch the brush, and I've caught three bad flues since that I would have missed. What is the one check you old hands won't skip no matter how fast the job needs to go?
