Showerthought: Did kitchen quality actually drop over the last 5 years or am I just getting pickier?

I swear the produce I got from Sysco 5 years ago was way fresher than what they're sending now, but maybe I just didn't know any better back then. Anyone else notice a real difference in ingredient quality lately or is it just me getting older and more annoying lol?

Sysco actually faced a major supply chain restructuring around 2022 that shifted a lot of their contracts to regional distributors. Those smaller distributors often have less strict quality control compared to the big national warehouses Sysco used before. So you're probably not getting picky, the actual handling and storage standards just changed.
