Had to choose between a new flattop or repairing the old one
Last month our 15 year old flattop finally gave out mid-service. I picked repairing it because the new one would have cost us 4 grand, but the repair guy warned me it was on borrowed time. Anyone else ever push a fix over a replacement and regret it later?

4 grand is nothing compared to what a new unit costs in three years when the repair gives out. I had a buddy who did the same thing with his 12 year old oven, paid 800 bucks to fix it, and it died again six months later. Now he's out the repair money plus the full replacement. You're basically paying rent on a dead appliance. I'd have taken the hit now instead of rolling the dice on a ticking time bomb.
