Nearly cooked my laptop by trusting a $12 universal charger over the real one
My original charger died and I grabbed a cheap universal one from a gas station near my place in Reno for $12. It ran hot from day one but the laptop powered on so I figured it was fine. Three days later the battery swelled up and pushed the trackpad out of the deck. I went with the actual OEM charger for $38 after that and it stays cool, charges in half the time, and my temps dropped about 10 degrees. Has anyone else had a cheap charger mess up their machine, and did swapping to the right one fix it?
