Guy at the Columbus repair shop told me to never buy a used PSU, and it saved my rig
I ran into a retired tech named Dave at a parts swap in Columbus last month. He told me a dead power supply took out his own board, his CPU, and both sticks of RAM back in 2019. I checked my $18 used unit from a garage sale and the 12V rail was reading 10.8 volts under load, which is way off. Has anyone here had a cheap PSU take other parts down with it, or did I just get lucky catching it early?
