Tried using a wallpaper steamer to pull up old glue-down carpet and it went way worse than I expected
I had a 12x15 bedroom in a rental over in Aurora with carpet glued straight to the slab, so I figured one of those $60 steamers would loosen it up faster. Instead the steam soaked through and turned the backing into a gummy mush that stuck to my scraper and smeared glue everywhere. Took me 5 hours instead of the 2 I planned and I still had to grind the floor before I could patch it. The heat also popped a seam in the vinyl next door, so that got added to my bill for free. If you have done glue-down without steam, what scraper blade are you running on a slab like that?
