My knee kicker's head snapped clean off on a Berber job in Tacoma yesterday, right when I was stretching the last corner.
Had to finish the stretch by hand with a pair of channel locks, and now my wrist feels like I spent three hours trying to open a jar of pickles.

Maintenance is everything. My old boss used to run his impact drivers into the ground, never cleaning or greasing them. Blew through three in a year before he learned. A little care goes a long way.

Yeah, and it's not just about cleaning them. You gotta check for stress cracks in the metal and worn out parts before they let go on you. A snapped head on a kicker is a real safety issue, not just a broken tool.
