I finally learned the hard way about cheap tack strips

Bought a bulk pack of those dollar store tack strips last month to save maybe $30 on a 400 sq ft job in Phoenix. They splintered like crazy and the pins bent on the first pass with my knee kicker. Ended up ripping it all out and redoing with the good stuff, lost a whole Saturday and had to buy a second set. Anyone else ever gamble on budget strips and regret it?

Man that sucks but honestly sounds like you got what you paid for. Dollar store tools are usually for one time fixes not a whole room. Also knee kickers are brutal on cheap strips cause theyre not meant for that kind of force. Maybe the real lesson is just never buy flooring stuff from a dollar store again.
