Had a power stretcher head snap clean off on a 20x15 living room last Thursday.
It was a 15 year old Roberts model, and the cast aluminum just gave out under tension. I had to finish the room with a knee kicker and a lot of swearing. Anyone have a go-to brand for a replacement that can handle thick berber?

Man, my Crain power stretcher has been a BEAST with thick carpet for years now.

Has been a beast" is the understatement of the year. That thing probably has its own heartbeat by now. I've seen those old Crain stretchers outlive family pets. At this point, it's less of a tool and more like a retired linebacker living in your van. You could probably stretch carpet over concrete with it and it wouldn't even notice.
