Vent: my plane kept digging in at the end of the stroke and the fix was a $2 candle
I was tuning up a Stanley No. 4 for a kitchen cabinet job in Boise last month and the blade kept catching right at the end of every pass, no matter how I set the chip breaker. Rubbed a stub of paraffin wax on the sole and along the frog seams and it glided like a different tool, just like an old finisher at the lumber yard mentioned offhand one time. Am I crazy for thinking wax beats camellia oil for the money, or is there something better I should be rubbing on there?
