PSA: those cheap blue tarps for winter storage scratched my truck worse than the snow ever would
Two winters back I parked my F-150 under a $30 tarp from the hardware store in my driveway in Fargo and figured I was set. Every time the wind blew, that thing flapped against the paint, and by March the hood and both fenders had fine scratches all over them. I paid a guy $180 to buff most of it out and he could not get the deep ones near the front edge. On top of that, the tarp trapped moisture underneath and my door seals got that funky mildew smell that took a week of airing out to kill. My cousin Ray has kept his Silverado in one of those portable fabric shelters for three winters now and told me he has zero marks from it. Has anyone here used a fitted cover or a carport tent that actually holds up through a windy winter without rubbing the clear coat?
