My neighbor said parking on grass under a carport beats a concrete slab, and I think he's wrong for winter storage
Last week my neighbor Dale in Fargo told me he parks his Firebird on a gravel pad under a carport all winter and never gets rust, and he said my concrete garage slab was the real problem because of condensation. I get why he thinks that, but gravel holds moisture right under the frame and lets it creep up into the rockers. My slab stays dry because I run a cheap box fan and keep the door cracked a hair, and my 1998 Ranger sat 5 winters with zero bubbling. Anyone else seen a car rot faster on gravel than concrete, or is Dale onto something I'm missing?
