Bought a $40 car cover off a guy in a Walmart lot and my paint paid for it
So I needed something to keep dust and bird crap off my project truck while it sits outside for a few months. A guy in the Walmart parking lot in Tulsa sold me a "heavy duty" cover for $40 cash, said it was barely used. Two weeks later we got some wind and rain, and when I pulled it off there was a big scuff patch on the hood and water had pooled in the bed and soaked through to the seats. Turns out the inside was some rough felt material that trapped grit and ground it into the clear coat every time the wind moved it. Ended up spending about $300 on a pro buff job plus a real breathable cover from a shop that actually fits. If you're storing outside, skip the parking lot deals because that $40 cost me closer to $340 total. What do you all use for long term outdoor storage that doesn't wreck the finish?
Wait, a felt lining?? That's wild, that stuff is basically sandpaper once dirt gets in it. Dude pretty much sold you a $40 scratch machine and called it heavy duty.
