Ranger told me to pitch my tent in the open, saved my whole trip
Last May at Rocky Mountain National Park a ranger said keep away from the treeline, I thought it was just storm talk. That night a gust snapped a branch off a pine right where I almost set up. Paid for a $200 tent and still use his advice every time now, anyone else ignore park staff and regret it?

Ever notice how the people who know the land best are the ones giving those warnings? I learned that lesson the hard way on a backpacking trip where ignoring a fire ban almost cost me my permit.
