I was cleaning shutter blades with a cotton swab for years until a Nikon F3 mirror box showed me the light.

My buddy had the same exact realization with his old Pentax. He was using a tiny brush for the mirror, which honestly just moved the dust around. Seeing the inside of that F3 is what finally convinced him to get a proper rocket blower.

Man, it's wild how often we stick with a bad method just because it's the one we know. You see it with everything from cleaning cameras to fixing a squeaky door.
