A retired tech told me my lens spanner technique was wrong, and he was right
I was fighting a stuck retaining ring on a 50mm f/1.4 for 45 minutes when a retired repair tech watching me said I was pushing down too hard and letting the tips slip. He showed me to brace the spanner with my palm and turn slow with just two fingers, and that ring came loose in 10 seconds. How do you all keep from chewing up slot walls on rings that have already been messed with?
