Shoutout to the installer in Denver who told me to stop trusting the 'cable was cut' call before I even climbed the pole
Was on a job in Aurora last Tuesday and the ticket said drop was cut at the tap, so I loaded up and drove out ready to run a whole new line. Old timer named Ruben was finishing his route nearby and said 'check the ground block first, nine times out of ten it's corrosion eating the signal, not a cut.' Sure enough, the fitting was green as hell and I had it swapped in 10 minutes instead of wasting an hour and 200 feet of cable. Now I check the ground block before I even pull the ladder off the truck. Any of you guys got a shortcut like that you picked up from an old head on the crew?
