Rant: My crimper finally gave out mid-job in a Denver attic yesterday
The handle snapped clean off trying to put an end on some 10 gauge, had to finish with pliers and a hammer. Anyone got a brand that can actually handle the cold up here?

Check the tool rating for the wire size. That 10 gauge might need a heavier crimper than what you had. My old set has a chart stamped right on the handle.

Chart on the handle would have saved me a lot of trouble. I tried to crimp 10 gauge with my old pliers and just made a sad, mushy mess. Ended up borrowing my neighbor's proper tool and felt like a total goof. Should have known better than to trust those little guys with big wire. Lesson learned the hard way.
