I had to pick between a $9 zip tie hack and a $40 raceway kit in my new Denver apartment, and I picked wrong
My desk sits 5 feet from the only outlet, so I had a power strip, a monitor cable, a phone charger, and a lamp cord all crossing the floor. I grabbed a bag of 100 zip ties for $9 and spent two hours on a Saturday anchoring everything to the baseboard. It looked fine for 11 days, then the sticky backs gave out and the whole run dropped behind my desk where I can't reach it. So I caved and ordered a 6 foot raceway kit for $40, and it took 15 minutes to install and hasn't budged in 3 weeks. The zip ties are still in a drawer mocking me, and I know I'm not the first person to fall for the cheap option. Does anyone have a trick for cables that have to cross open floor, because I still have one run I can't hide?
