TIL a guy at a lumber yard in Toledo flipped my whole clamp order and I finally get it
I was picking up a load of 8/4 poplar last Tuesday and the yard guy, Dale, watched me stack everything to strap it down. He told me I had my pipe clamps working against the grain pull and showed me how he flips them opposite the glue line. Tried it on a face frame job the next morning and cut my clamp marks in half, felt pretty dumb standing there in the lot. Anyone else pick up a trick from a yard hand that you should've learned a decade ago?
