That tiny 1/16 gap on a drawer front ate 5 hours and I'm still mad about it
Building a set of 6 maple drawers for a kitchen job in Portland and one front sat proud by maybe a 1/16 inch no matter how I shimmed it. Turned out my drawer slide jig had drifted about 1/32 out of square from clamping it too hard, and I chased everything else for 5 hours before checking the jig itself. Lesson learned the hard way: check your setup before you blame the wood. What's your go to trick for catching a jig that's gone out of square before it burns your whole afternoon?
