Spent an entire Saturday on one drawer face. Here's what happened.
I had this curved panel drawer face I was trying to match to an existing kitchen. Thought it would be a quick couple hours. The grain matching alone took me 3 hours, then the bending jig setup was another 2. By the time I got the veneer pressed and trimmed, it was 6 PM. My guys were gone, I was still in the shop with glue on my hands. Anyone else ever lose a full day to a single piece?

Used to think guys who spent a whole day on one drawer face were just being slow or picky. Then I had to do a curved panel for this old house with those shallow drawers and a weird radius. The veneer kept bubbling and I had to redo the whole glue-up twice. By the time I got it right the sun was down and my hands were numb from clamping. Now I get it. Respect to anyone who does curves regularly.

They say "the veneer kept bubbling" and I felt that in my soul. That's like saying "the car won't start" when it's actually on fire and the wheels are falling off. I tried a curved door once and ended up with more glue on my shirt than on the wood. Had to sand it down and start over three times because the pattern kept shifting like it was playing a trick on me. So yeah, @carr.willow, I tip my hat to you and anyone else who does this daily. Y'all must have the patience of a saint and the back of a chiropractor's best customer.
