I think pre-finished plywood is overrated for cabinet interiors
Tried using prefinished maple plywood for my last kitchen job in Portland, thought it would save time. But the edge banding just didn't stick as good as raw ply, and I spent more time fixing seams than I saved. Anyone else have trouble with the factory coating messing with glue adhesion?

Factory coating messing with glue adhesion" is exactly it - most prefinished ply uses an acrylic or UV-cured topcoat that's slick as hell, so standard wood glue doesn't bond right. You gotta rough up the edge banding surface with sandpaper before applying it.

Right @troy996, doesn't it feel like almost everything nowadays has some factory coating that messes with how stuff is supposed to stick together? Roughing up the surface with sandpaper is basically the universal hack for anything prefinished, from plywood edges to plastic parts.
