Am I the only one who had a drawer slide install turn into a geometry test?

Getting a set of undermounts perfectly aligned on a vanity took me from 2 pm to almost 7 because the cabinet sides weren't perfectly plumb. What's your go-to trick for this besides just shimming forever?
