Just realized I was walking my foundation like a tightrope for 6 months

My inspector pointed out a hairline crack running under the living room window and said the house was settling uneven because I never got a soil test before buying the place, has anyone else missed something that obvious in the inspection?

Honestly my buddy's inspector missed a sagging roof he only caught when the ceiling started leaking in a storm. Heard someone say a lot of inspectors just skim through houses and miss the big stuff.

That line about inspectors just "skimming through houses" really hit home for me. My inspector walked right past a window that was basically nailed shut with paint and said everything looked "good to go" - took me three months of prying it open to realize the frame was completely warped. Sometimes I think they just look for the EASIEST things to point out and move along.
