Inspection found mold behind the kitchen cabinets in a house I was buying
I was under contract on a 1970s ranch in Columbus and the inspector found black mold behind the cabinets near the sink pipe. The seller offered a $500 credit but the mold was on three walls and under the flooring. Should I ask for a bigger credit or just walk away from the deal?

Band aid on a broken leg" is exactly right. That $500 credit is a joke when you're talking about tear out and full remediation. Last year a buddy of mine had the same thing in his flip house, ended up spending $3,500 just to get the drywall and flooring out and treat the studs. And that was with him doing the demo himself. You're looking at a total gut job in that whole kitchen area, probably $5k minimum. Walk.

Seller offering $500 for a mold farm is like putting a bandaid on a broken leg. Three walls and the floor? That's a full hazmat situation not a credit situation. Walk fast or get ready to learn demolition.
