Rant: my 8 year old cooler lid split in half on a camping trip last July
The plastic hinge area just gave out when I was hauling it out of the truck near Lake Tahoe, no way to repair it since the whole top is one molded piece. I'm now looking at metal-frame coolers in the $300 range, but has anyone had one of those actually survive more than a decade of real abuse?

lol my 8 year old cooler died the same way but the lid cracked because I sat on it to watch a sunset, so honestly the cooler outlasted my dignity there. I can't vouch for the $300 ones, but I've had a cheap metal frame one survive a deer running into my truck bed, so maybe worth it?
