My 15 year old cast iron skillet finally hit 1000 meals and I counted every single one
I started tallying meals on a sticky note back in 2009 when I got it for $12 at a yard sale in Ohio, and last night's cornbread made it an even thousand, so has anyone else kept a log like that or am I just weirdly attached to my pans?
Keep that sticky note somewhere safe though, because counting only meals is a little off. I've had my own cast iron since 2011 and I log every use, not just meals, so breakfast hash, cornbread, and even the grilled cheese I made for my kid all count separately. If you only counted dinners, your pan has probably seen closer to 1,500 total cook sessions, unless you skipped lunch and snacks for 15 years, which I doubt. Either way, congrats on the milestone, just know your tally is more of a loose estimate than a real record.
