My 11 year old cast iron pan finally failed, and I'm glad it did

Tbh, I know this community loves cast iron forever, but last week my old Lodge finally cracked right down the middle while I was heating it for cornbread. Everyone says these things last generations, but after 11 years of daily use, the metal just gave up on me, no drops or thermal shocks. I honestly think we push this BIFL myth too hard, sometimes things wear out and that's okay. Has anyone else had a so called 'lifetime' piece actually die on them, or am I the only one who got the defective batch?
