I chose the waxed canvas pack over the Cordura one and regret nothing
Everyone in this sub swears by 1000D Cordura for bags, but I picked a Filson 24-hour tin cloth briefcase in 2019 for $295. Three years of daily bus commutes in Seattle rain and the thing just beads water off, no liner needed. I mean, the Cordura might outlast it on paper, but I've had zero wear spots and the patina looks better every month. Has anyone else gone with the old-school fabric and stuck with it?

My 2018 waxed canvas tote has survived three Midwest winters and a dog who chewed the strap, it looks like a leather armchair now. The Cordura folks can keep their tactical velcro, I'll take the smell of damp wool and old coffee any day.
