Thought the $6 multimeter from Harbor Freight was junk, then it found my loose USB-C ground
Kept getting random disconnects on my Anker power bank for about 3 weeks and figured the port was dead. The cheap meter showed the ground pin had a bad solder joint inside the cable, not the bank, so I swapped cables and it charged fine. Has anyone else had a cable fail at the connector instead of the port itself?
Honestly I always figured those cheap meters were a waste of money and would never tell you anything useful. But a bad solder joint inside the cable is exactly the kind of sneaky thing that drives you nuts, since you keep blaming the port. Guess I owe Harbor Freight an apology.
