The 5-dollar tape trick that saved my frayed cable for 2 extra months
Last week my USB-C cable started showing copper wire at the bend near the plug, right before a road trip to Austin. I was about to toss it, but my buddy said wrap electrical tape tight around the damaged spot, then add a spring from an old pen over it for support. Did that at a gas station and it kept working through a 14 hour round trip, charging my phone and a camping light. It sounds janky but it buys you time until payday, anyone else done a ghetto fix like this that actually held?

Actually that pen spring trick works way better if you wrap a little bit of tape first, then slide the spring over it, then add another layer on top. Without that middle layer the spring can dig into the cable over time and make things worse. Saved my phone charger for a few more months that way too, so props for the resourcefulness either way.
