TIL the official bullet journal method only has 4 signifiers, and I have been using like 9 for no reason
Last week I was redoing my key page and actually read through the official Ryder Carroll guide instead of just copying what I saw on Pinterest. Turns out the whole system uses just four signifiers: a dot for a task, a circle for an event, a dash for a note, and an asterisk for a priority. I had been running nine of them, arrows and triangles and little squares and a lightning bolt for stuff I felt strongly about. When I went back through my old spreads, half my symbols had shifted meaning somewhere along the way and I could not even remember what the triangle meant. So I wiped my key down to the basic four and added a slash for started and a back arrow for moved, and my daily logs got way faster to write. The weird part is I actually finish more tasks now because I am not spending mental energy picking a symbol. Anyone else go through a phase where they added a ton of custom signifiers and then had to walk it back?
