My friend said my weekly spread looked like a tax form and now I'm rethinking everything
She pointed out that my color coded boxes and tiny handwriting made it feel like work, not a helpful tool. I switched to just a simple pen and one highlighter, which cut my setup time from 45 minutes to about 10. Do you think a bullet journal should be purely functional, or is the artistic part what makes it work for you?

My buddy's wife had a whole craft store in her journal, washi tape and everything. She spent more time decorating than actually writing stuff down, and it stressed her out trying to make it perfect. She finally ditched the stickers and just uses a red pen for urgent stuff now, says it actually gets used. Seems like if the fancy part starts feeling like homework, it's totally fine to go back to basics.

Take it from someone who once color-coded my garden hose inventory by week and regretted every second of it. If staring at your own journal makes you feel like you're about to get audited, then you've missed the point. A tool that actually gets used is worth way more than a pretty one that sits in a drawer.
