My bullet journal got soaked at a coffee shop in Tacoma and I'm glad it did.
The pages warped and bled, so I stopped trying to make it look perfect and just started scribbling notes. Anyone else find a messy journal actually works better for them?

Totally, my best ideas come out when my notebook is a total wreck. Perfection just kills the flow.

That's so true, @jennifer_west. The messy notebook is like proof your brain was actually working. Makes me wonder, do you ever go back and try to clean up those messy notes later, or do you just leave them as a total disaster? I feel like if I try to make them neat, I lose the original spark. The chaos is part of the idea.

The real question is whether the mess is actually helping or just hiding something. Sometimes I wonder if people convince themselves the chaos is productive when really they're just avoiding the hard work of organizing their thoughts. A little mess is one thing, but if you can't find half your notes when you need them, what's the point? Maybe try keeping two notebooks, one for the wild ideas and another for the ones that actually matter. The clean one forces you to decide what's worth keeping.
