My bullet journal fell in a puddle last week and I had to start over from scratch
I was walking to my car in the rain in Seattle and my whole bag, journal inside, went right into a big puddle. The pages were a total mess, all my trackers and the monthly log I just set up were gone. I had to buy a new Leuchtturm1917 notebook and spend a whole evening trying to remember what I had written down. Has anyone else had to recover from losing their journal and found a good way to do it?

That "trying to remember what I had written down" part is the real killer. It made me realize my journal is basically an external hard drive for my brain. Losing it isn't just losing paper, it's like a weird form of memory loss for all those small plans and notes. I started taking a quick photo of my weekly spread every Sunday night now. It's not a perfect backup, but it gives me something to look at if the book gets lost or soaked again.

That whole "external hard drive for my brain" thing actually feels backwards to me. I find if I photograph my journal, I stop really processing what I wrote down because I know there's a backup, and then I remember even less. @torres.drew is onto something with the waterproof notebook idea though, because that physical anchor forces you to stay engaged with the material instead of outsourcing your memory to a cloud.
