Why does everyone say you need a torque wrench for lug nuts? I just snug them with a 4-way and never had a wheel fall off
Back in March I was at a tire shop in Tucson picking up a used set of wheels and the guy behind the counter laughed when I said I just crank them down by feel with the 4-way in my trunk. He told me I was going to warp a rotor or lose a wheel on the highway, but I have done this on four different trucks over 60k miles each and never had a single issue. Am I actually wrong here, or is the torque wrench thing just something shops push so you come back to them?
