Am I the only one who thinks powder coating my intake manifold was a waste of $95
So about 7 months ago I pulled the intake manifold off my 87 Bronco and figured while it was out I'd get it powder coated. Dropped it at a place in Warren, paid $95, waited 9 days, and bolted it back on feeling like a genius. Ran it for about 4 months and the thing looked great, no lie. Then I started noticing the paint bubbling right near the EGR port. Took it off again last weekend and half the coating on the underside is flaking off in sheets, bare metal showing underneath. The shop swears it's because I didn't prep it right, but I degreased that thing twice with brake cleaner before I handed it over. Meanwhile the $12 can of high temp engine enamel I sprayed on my valve covers at the same time still looks fine. Starting to think half this powder coat hype is just guys wanting an excuse to pull parts off. Who else has had coating fail on them and did the shop actually stand behind it?
