Tried the cash envelope trick for 6 weeks, learned something weird about my grocery bill
I pulled out $140 in cash every Sunday for groceries and left my debit card at home, just to see what would happen. What happened was I started shopping at the Lidl on Route 9 instead of the big store near my apartment, because I could see the money getting thin and I got stingy in a way that card swipes never made me feel. Turned out $22 of my weekly bill was just impulse stuff near the register, snacks and drinks I did not even want. Curious if anyone else has tried the cash thing and had it mess with where you shop, not just how much you buy?
